5 Healthy Eating Tips for Kids
We know how important it is for kids (and adults) to have a healthy lifestyle that benefits their physical and mental health. That's why we're excited to welcome Prime Earth to Bodhi Bar for a healthy eating workshop for kids! This Saturday Nov. 23 kids can learn about nutrition and make their own fresh and healthy smoothie. Registration is required. Visit their website for details and to book your child's spot today.
We are thought this was the perfect time to share 5 Healthy Eating Tips for Kids |
1. Skip the breakfast cereal Kids breakfast cereals are marketed well to kids so it's no wonder they beg for them as you navigate the cereal aisle. The problem is that most of them are loaded with sugar (on average, children’s cereals contain 40% more sugar than adults’ cereals.) Opt for breakfast choices like homemade oatmeal with fruit or if you need some "cookspiration" visit the Cookspiration website created by Dietitians of Canada, it's loaded with great recipes. |

2. Avoid sport & energy drinks Active kids often ask for sport drink (which are packed with sugar & calories) or energy drinks (many have more than three times the caffeine in them than pop.) but most times water is all they need to stay hydrated. If they are working at a high intensity and working up a sweat consider a Recovery & Ready cold-pressed juice. It's an all natural way to hydrate and re-energize. |

3. Eat a more plant-based diet More and more adults are turning to a plant-based diet and kids are too. Vegan or Vegetarian diets are a healthy choice for everyone but many people worry kids won't get the nutrition they need without meat. This great blog outlines important points and tips for ensuring a well balance and nutritious plant-based diet for kids. |

4. Get Kids Involved We all know the struggle, sometimes it seems impossible to get kids to eat what you make. Solution? Get them involved in meal planning and preparation. Not only are they more likely to eat something they helped to make but it also teaches them valuable life skills and makes them more independent. *Bonus - cooking homemade meals also cuts down on the amount of processed food you are eating. |

5. Drink your Veggies Tired of tossing out uneaten food from school lunches? Pick up a six pack of our cold-pressed juice and add one to your kids lunch. You can rest assured that they are getting 5-6 servings of fruit & veggies in each bottle. Our juices can be stored in the freezer and are perfect to grab and go when you're in a hurry. |
